Central MA Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Partners
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. WIOA brings together, in strategic coordination, the core programs of federal investment in skill development:
Here, at Webster Adult Basic Education Linkages Program, we work closely with our WIOA partners to ensure all available resources are brought together for each student. Our advisor makes the appropriate referrals to partnering agencies, as needed, for each student. Our local partners are highlighted below.
- Employment and training services for adults, youth, dislocated workers and Wagner-Peyser employment services administered by the U.S. Department of Labor through formula grants to states; and
- Adult education and family literacy programs as well as State Vocational Rehabilitation Services programs that assist eligible individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment; both core programs are administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
